Peacock’s new series, inspired by The Office and developed by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, has expanded its recurring cast. The show will now include seven additional actors: Duane Shepard Sr. (The Conners), Allan Havey (Loot), Nate Jackson (Young Rock), Mo Welch (Kwaczala), Nancy Lenehan (The Boys), Molly Ephraim (A League of Their Own), and Tracy Letts (Saturday Night Live).
These actors will be joining a dynamic group that was previously announced, including Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina), Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Chelsea Frei (Poker Face), Melvin Gregg (American Vandal), Gbemisola Ikumelo (Black Ops), Alex Edelman (Just For Us), Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever), Tim Key (The Witchfinder), and Eric Rahill (Friendship).
The upcoming comedy revolves around a documentary crew, previously known for their work on Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office, who are now capturing the efforts to rejuvenate a historic Midwestern newspaper using a team of volunteer journalists.
Watch on Deadline
The project was first hinted at by Deadline in January, revealing that it was in the preliminary stages of development. Michael Koman was brought on board as a co-creator alongside Daniels by March. Soon after, in April, they confirmed their first major casting with Gleeson and Impacciatore.
In a unique twist, Mo Welch isn’t just acting; she is also part of the writing team for the series. The executive production team includes notable figures such as Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas (formerly Reveille), all of whom were involved in either the original UK series or the NBC adaptation. The series is being produced by Universal Television, a branch of Universal Studio Group.
