Sabrina Impacciatore, a prominent figure in The Paper, recently shared that on the first day of shooting, Steve Carell and John Krasinski from The Office unexpectedly dropped by the set to extend their best wishes.
During a fresh interview, the actress, famous for her role in White Lotus, reminisced about the surprising visit from Carell and Krasinski.
“We hadn’t even put on makeup. We were all nervous. Suddenly, there’s a knock on the door,” Impacciatore recounted to Entertainment Weekly. “And who walks in? Steve Carell and John Krasinski! We were astounded. Just imagine that happening! Crazy, right? On our very first day of filming!”
She added that Carell and Krasinski were there to shoot a commercial for the Italian coffee brand Lavazza. Impacciatore, being Italian herself, felt this was a sign of good fortune, remarking, “Italian coffee, which I’ve grown up drinking my entire life.”

Before her role in The Paper, Impacciatore had thoroughly enjoyed The Office U.S., developing a deep admiration for Steve Carell. This led her to travel all the way from Rome to New York just to see Carell perform in Uncle Vanya on Broadway.
She even reached out to The Office U.S. creator Greg Daniels, who informed her of Carell’s location in the city.
“I watched the show, waited in the green room, and when he appeared, I was trembling,” Impacciatore shared. “I introduced myself and asked for his blessing for The Paper. He was incredibly kind and supportive, boosting my confidence by assuring me of the wonderful experience ahead and my potential success. It’s an encounter I’ll always cherish.”
The Paper is a mockumentary crafted by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, set in the same fictional universe as the acclaimed NBC series The Office. It follows the same documentary crew as they explore a new storyline centered around a historic newspaper in Toledo, The Truth Teller, and its publisher’s efforts to rejuvenate it.
The show features Domhnall Gleeson, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, and Tim Key in leading roles. Notable guest stars include Eric Rahill, Duane Shepard Sr., Allan Havey, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, Nancy Lenehan, Molly Ephraim, and Tracy Letts.
