‘Taskmaster’ Expands Global Reach With Polish Version As Alex Horne Says: “This Has Got A Bit Out of Control”

BREAKING: Taskmaster is expanding its global presence, with Polish broadcaster TVN commissioning a localized adaptation. The show, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, will be developed by Avalon and Constantin. This announcement coincides with the launch of several new Taskmaster editions worldwide, with additional versions expected to roll out until 2026.

The show features an omnipotent ‘Taskmaster’ who, assisted by a devoted aide, challenges a group of comedians through a series of quirky and inventive tasks throughout the season.

Alex Horne, the creator and co-host of the original UK series along with comedian Greg Davies, commented on the expansion: “It’s a little overwhelming,” he admitted, upon hearing the news of the new international adaptation. “Still, it’s fantastic that Polish audiences will get to watch their favorite comedians abandon all pretense of dignity in their efforts to impress a Polish Greg Davies.”

Taskmaster is gaining momentum internationally. Following the Polish update, TV4 in Sweden has confirmed two additional seasons, marking their fourteenth and fifteenth. These will be produced by Avalon and Baluba. Meanwhile, WBD’s Norwegian branch has extended its contract for more localized Taskmaster content, with production shared by Nordisk and Avalon. This version recently clinched the Gullruten award for Best Comedy Show in 2024 in Norway.

Last month saw the launch of the show in Iceland and Estonia on Syn and TV3 networks, respectively. The Netherlands is also set to premiere its own version on RTL later this year. With the TVN deal, Taskmaster will have adaptations in fourteen different countries.

Avalon, which both produces and distributes the show globally, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership with TVN and Constantin. Paula Warwick, Avalon’s Head of Distribution, stated, “We are excited to bring Taskmaster to Poland. The format’s robustness and its consistent delivery of comedy has cultivated a strong international following. We look forward to introducing it to the Polish market and are optimistic about continuing our expansion into more regions.”
