Disney+ Renews Polish Drama ‘Breslau’ & Orders Two More Shows From Central Europe

Disney+ is expanding its presence in Poland with a renewal of Breslau for a second season and the launch of two additional series.

As first reported by Deadline in 2024, Disney+ debuted Breslau, its inaugural Polish series. The second season picks up with Franz Podolsky, freshly released from prison, who becomes entangled in the investigation of a woman’s murder that ties back to a cold case he previously couldn’t crack. The cast features Tomasz Schuchardt, Adam Bobik, Agata Kulesza, Ireneusz Czop, and Przemysław Bluszcz.

Additionally, Disney+ Poland has greenlit the comedy-drama Everything Under Control (working title), focusing on a young woman’s quest to improve herself, only to have an unforeseen event accelerate her self-improvement plan. The platform is also introducing The Game, a thriller from Aurum Film about a thrilling quest that turns into a survival battle as strangers encounter unforeseen peril in a forest.

Angela Jain, Disney+ EMEA’s Head of Content, commented: “We are committed to the Polish market, recognizing the significant potential for local content. These new projects not only enhance our international portfolio but also cater to the preferences of our local viewers. It’s thrilling to collaborate with Poland’s top creative talents, known for their filmic innovation and excellence.”

Recently, Disney+ has increased its investment in the EMEA region, with Jain receiving an expanded budget. Meanwhile, Netflix, its competitor, has established a strong foothold in Poland, launching its largest Polish series to date, the survival thriller Heweliusz, last year.
