ALDI’s Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli
• Price: $2.99 each
• Why I Love It: This Italian American treat is a hybrid of a pizza and a sub sandwich, providing a fulfilling meal for breakfast or lunch in two delicious varieties: Pepperoni and Cheese or Three Meat and Cheese. They are precooked, allowing them to be quickly warmed up in the oven, air fryer, or microwave.
With a summer packed with gymnastics, his first job caddying, and mandatory volunteer work, my 14-year-old son will be on the go.
Therefore, I needed to find quick meal solutions for his breakfasts and lunches, which led me to explore ALDI’s freezer section. There, I discovered the perfect solution: Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli.
The Appeal of Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli
For those not familiar, stromboli is an Italian American creation that blends the elements of a pizza and a sub sandwich. Available in two flavors, Pepperoni and Cheese or Three Meat and Cheese, each variety includes mozzarella and provolone, with the latter also featuring ham and salami alongside pepperoni.
Priced at just $2.99 each, these strombolis are a cost-effective alternative to a sandwich from a local deli. They are about seven inches long, roughly the size of a half sub sandwich.
Opening the package releases a strong scent of oregano and garlic, making them tempting even before heating. Being precooked, they’re a quick option for a busy schedule—perfect for a speedy microwave heat-up.
We’ve experimented with baking them in the oven, air frying, and microwaving. While the air fryer and oven provide the best texture, the microwave is the fastest method, which my son didn’t mind despite the less crispy outcome.
After cooking, the cheese melts beautifully out of the soft, doughy bread, enhancing the aroma of oregano and garlic. Both varieties were hits, but the pepperoni flavor was a particular favorite for my son.

Serving Suggestions for Mama Cozzi’s Stromboli
These strombolis are delicious on their own, but for an extra touch, consider dipping them in extra-virgin olive oil or a blend of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. They also pair wonderfully with marinara sauce.
My husband and I prefer to slice them in half for dipping, while our son enjoys them on the move, wrapped in a paper towel for easy portability.
According to my son, they also make a satisfying breakfast option. Try slicing the stromboli lengthwise and topping it with a couple of fried eggs for a hearty morning meal. Regardless of how you choose to enjoy them, these strombolis are sure to please.
