WARNING: This summary contains specifics from the March 26 episode of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, “Take Me to the River.”
In the latest installment of Grey’s Anatomy, we begin to see a potential farewell approach for Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver), while a previously divisive couple solidifies their relationship, and an unexpected romantic twist emerges that catches us off guard.
Throughout the season, following Teddy’s assertive breakup with Owen in last season’s finale, the pair had only fleeting on-screen encounters — exchanging glances, discussing their imminent divorce and the new people in their lives, Nora (Owen) and Cass (Teddy). The tension escalated with Teddy walking in on Owen with Nora, and recently, Owen cheering Teddy on before a high-stakes surgery led to them reconnecting physically in a string of episodes.
This dynamic shifted in tonight’s Episode 2215, marking a significant moment since it was disclosed that Raver and McKidd are departing from Grey’s Anatomy at the end of Season 22. As their final appearance draws near, Teddy and Owen find themselves working together on a medical case, marking their first collaboration this season. Teddy, alongside Owen and two newcomers, Simone and rookie intern Dani, head to a rural hospital for what turns into more than just a simple visit.

Their trip includes a spontaneous surgery that reminds them of their past experiences in Iraq. During the procedure, as their hands overlap while operating on a patient, Teddy learns that Owen has received a job offer to lead a surgical unit at this hospital.
Initially, it seems like this job could dictate Owen’s future after his departure from Grey Sloan, but he declines the offer for the time being, leaving their next steps ambiguous.
Owen reassures Teddy that the timing isn’t right, prompting an emotional response from her that reveals deeper feelings, suggesting a possible rekindling of their relationship despite their recent divorce.

As Deadline has reported, there are no plans to kill off Owen and Teddy, hinting at a potential return in the future, with series creator Shonda Rhimes hinting at a “happy ending” for the duo in the finale.
In other news, the recent romantic declaration between Winston (Anthony Hill) and Jules (Adelaide Kane) advances as they share more intimate moments, leading Winston to end his current relationship with Iris on her birthday, under Jules’ pressure.
Despite the problematic nature of their relationship, given Winston is Jules’ superior, the situation echoes the show’s earlier seasons with Derek and Meredith, though now the series acknowledges the issues with such dynamics. Showrunner Meg Marinis commented on the evolving narrative, emphasizing the show’s new focus on addressing the complexities of mentor-mentee relationships.
Meanwhile, the episode throws us another curveball with an unexpected hookup between the clumsy new intern Dani and Lucas (Niko Tehro), still mourning the loss of patient Katie, who impulsively becomes romantically involved with her.
Additionally, a daring move by Kwan (Harry Shum, Jr.) to implant an unapproved synthetic lymph node into a dying father, against Bailey’s orders, adds to the drama, leaving Bailey to manage the fallout.
With only three episodes left this season, the unfolding drama continues to captivate, with upcoming episodes scheduled for April 2, April 30, and May 7.
