Former Disney & Discovery Exec Carolina Lightcap Launches ShowUp Studios To Create Gen Z Content On YouTube & TikTok

Carolina Lightcap, a former executive at Disney and Discovery in Latin America, has teamed up with three seasoned professionals to launch ShowUp Studios, a new venture aimed at crafting content for Generation Z audiences on platforms like YouTube and TikTok.

Currently heading LightCubed Media, Lightcap’s notable previous roles include President of Disney Channels Worldwide and Chief Content Officer at Discovery Latin America/U.S. Hispanic. Her partners in ShowUp Studios include Mariano Chihade, Demián Falestchi, and Federico Lauría.

ShowUp is in the midst of securing pre-seed investment. Later this year, they plan to conduct upfront presentations to introduce their intellectual property to potential advertisers and subsequently begin production on their shows.

The newly formed studio is set to produce content specifically tailored for Gen Z, utilizing a business model that offers free-to-watch programming on digital platforms, financed through advertising and brand partnerships.

Streaming Highlights

ShowUp Studios has set ambitious production targets, aiming to create over 4,500 episodes in the next five years. Their content will cover various genres and formats, accommodating both vertical and horizontal video presentations, and will range from live-action to animated productions.

Based in Madrid, Spain, Lightcap will oversee the operations of ShowUp Studios. She expressed that the studio originates from a desire to establish a scalable, premium digital content ecosystem centered around Gen Z, engaging them on their favorite platforms, incorporating their input throughout the production process, and continuously adapting to their preferences and feedback.

Lightcap’s colleagues bring diverse expertise to the table. Chihade founded Mandarina, an independent production company. Falestchi is the mind behind Kidscorp, an ad tech firm focusing on young audiences across Latin America. Lauría heads Dale Play, a company active in music, gaming, live events, and talent management.
