Recently surfaced documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein have brought attention to Barry Josephson, prompting him to respond about his past interactions with the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender.
Barry Josephson, the executive producer of Bones, acknowledged accepting multiple personal loans from Epstein and arranging set visits for young women associated with Epstein during their longstanding friendship. He has now publicly addressed their interactions.
“I can’t justify the content of some of my emails,” Josephson expressed in a statement released to Variety. “The remarks were inappropriate and childish, and for that, I am embarrassed.”
Josephson elaborated, “Although I attended gatherings where Epstein was present and he visited my production sets on a couple of occasions, I never joined him on his plane, went to his island, or observed him with minors. Over my nearly five-decade career in entertainment, I’ve met countless individuals. My most significant regret is naively accepting his denials of misconduct. I was taken in by his network of influential friends from various sectors, and this clouded my judgment. I am deeply sorry to those impacted by this profoundly immoral and vile individual.”

Deadline attempted to contact Josephson for further comments, but he has yet to reply.
Documents released by the Justice Department on January 30 reveal that Josephson maintained his relationship with Epstein well beyond the financier’s 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor for prostitution and other related charges. The documents include emails up until 2018, the year before Epstein’s death in jail while awaiting trial.
Not only did Josephson, a former president at Columbia Pictures, borrow over $330,000 from Epstein in 2011 and 2012 for settling tax-related issues, he also expressed being “overwhelmed by your friendship” in his communication with Epstein. Moreover, Josephson joked with Epstein about a “young, attractive” woman with an “insane rack” who could potentially work as an assistant for Epstein. In exchange, Epstein used his connection with Josephson to further penetrate the Hollywood scene. Although Epstein attempted to secure roles on Bones for acquaintances, these efforts apparently did not succeed.
