Paramount+ has officially announced the renewal of Taylor Sheridan’s hit crime series Tulsa King, featuring Sylvester Stallone, for its fourth season. This confirmation was made during the Season 3 red carpet premiere in New York, just before the new season airs on Paramount+ on Sunday, September 21. A major change in leadership has been reported for the upcoming season, with Terence Winter set to return as executive producer and chief writer, replacing Dave Erickson, who will depart after Season 3, as exclusively reported by Deadline.
Tulsa King, a collaboration between Paramount TV Studios and 101 Studios, secured a two-season extension (Seasons 3 and 4) following Stallone’s agreement last November to continue his role for two additional seasons. The renewal for Season 3 was previously announced in March, with the follow-up season expected soon after.
Sources indicate that this won’t be the final run for Tulsa King. Negotiations are reportedly in progress for another two-year contract with Stallone, and if viewership remains robust, the series could potentially extend to six seasons.

Terence Winter, the mind behind Boardwalk Empire, originally held the executive producer and showrunner roles in Tulsa King’s debut season. He stepped back after the first season, only to return as Head Writer and executive producer in the second season, while Craig Zisk took over day-to-day showrunner responsibilities on set.
“We aligned creatively,” commented Winter on his return.
The show then reverted to having a formal showrunner for its third season, with Mayor of Kingstown’s showrunner Erickson stepping in. Erickson, who also recently resigned from the upcoming Tulsa King spinoff, NOLA King, starring Samuel L. Jackson, will now solely focus on Mayor of Kingstown. NOLA King will be introduced during Tulsa King’s third season, featuring Jackson in a guest role.
Winter’s return to Tulsa King marks his full-time commitment to the series since he served as a consultant in Season 3. As with Season 2, the upcoming season does not include a separate showrunner.
The second season of Tulsa King set a new record for Paramount+ as its most-watched global premiere, drawing 21.1 million viewers for the first episode. It ranked as the #1 global original series on Paramount+ in 2024 and made it to the Top 10 original series across all streaming platforms in Q4.
In the third season, as Dwight’s (played by Stallone) criminal empire grows, so does the number of his adversaries and the threats against his crew. He now confronts the Dunmires, a formidable old-money family that doesn’t adhere to the traditional rules, pushing Dwight to defend his territory and safeguard his family.
