‘One Piece’ Renewed For Season 3 By Netflix, Drops First-Look Season 2 Images

One Piece has been confirmed for a third season by Netflix ahead of schedule.

Although the second season of the live-action adaptation of the immensely popular manga series by Eiichiro Oda isn’t set to premiere until 2026, Netflix has already given fans a sneak peek during the annual One Piece Day event in Tokyo, Japan. (Images can be viewed above and below.)

Filming for the third season is scheduled to commence later this year in Cape Town, South Africa. Ian Stokes, previously a co-executive producer for One Piece, will step up alongside Joe Tracz as co-showrunner, following the departure of Matt Owens in March, who was an executive producer and co-showrunner for the first two seasons. Tracz, who joined as co-showrunner in the second season, has been leading the latest season through its post-production stages after Owens’ exit.

The storyline for season 2 is set to introduce “even more formidable foes and dangerous adventures. Luffy and his crew, the Straw Hats, embark on an epic journey to the mythical Grand Line—a notorious oceanic region filled with peril and mystery at every corner. As they navigate through this treacherous zone in pursuit of the ultimate treasure, they will come across strange islands and encounter a slew of powerful new adversaries.”

One Piece chronicles the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy as he seeks the legendary One Piece treasure to claim the title of Pirate King. Following its release on Netflix in 2023, the series maintained a presence in the Global Top 10 for eight consecutive weeks, clinching the No. 1 spot in more than 75 countries, and marked a milestone as the first Netflix English-language series to debut at No. 1 in Japan. The show has amassed nearly 100M views and ranks as one of Netflix’s top downloads of all time.
