‘Peacemaker’s Freddie Stroma Worries About Young ‘Superman’ Fans Watching Show: “Pretty R-Rated Stuff”

As Peacemaker gears up for its second season on HBO Max, one of the ’11th Street Kids’ expresses concerns over potentially drawing an inappropriate audience.

Freddie Stroma, portraying Vigilante/Adrian Chase, shares his unease about the possibility of young Superman enthusiasts stumbling upon this adult-oriented superhero show amidst the changes in the DC universe orchestrated by James Gunn.

“It feels odd because although it’s a fresh universe, it doesn’t impact us too significantly,” he explained during an interview with Discussing Film. “My concern is with the release of Superman, younger viewers might tune into our first episode and I’m not sure how they’ll perceive it.”

Stroma added, “So, that’s what I keep pondering with the change in the universe. I suppose it’s just a part of the process. For us, it’s pretty much business as usual. We’re the Peacemaker crew and we engage in fairly R-rated activities.”

Superman was released digitally in North America on August 15. Gunn mentioned he “wanted everyone who wished to see Superman to be able to do so, including those who couldn’t make it to a theater before Peacemaker,” which premieres this Friday on HBO Max.

Setting the stage for Peacemaker Season 2, Superman featured characters such as Green Lantern/Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders (Isabela Merced), and Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn) in a preview of what’s to come.

Following their takeover of DC Studios in 2022, Superman serves as the inaugural installment in Gunn’s new DCU, kicking off the ‘Gods and Monsters’ era.
