Melissa McCarthy and Dijon will soon grace the stage of Saturday Night Live as host and musical guest respectively, the iconic late-night program revealed in its latest episode featuring Glen Powell and Olivia Dean.
The acclaimed actress and the R&B artist are scheduled for the show’s December 6 episode, following a brief hiatus.
SNL will pause for a few weeks for the Thanksgiving break, planning to return in December for several episodes before the mid-season break. The show will resume in the new year.
Melissa McCarthy, known for her transition from comedy to drama, is part of the exclusive Five-Timers Club on SNL. She first took up hosting duties in 2011 and made her last appearance in 2017 when she was honored with a membership jacket by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. McCarthy has received an Emmy nomination for each of her hosting performances, clinching the award in 2017.

Looking ahead, McCarthy has several exciting projects lined up, including a Paramount+ limited series on the JonBenét Ramsey case and a Netflix film adaptation of the beloved children’s book, Miss Nelson is Missing.
Dijon, fresh from releasing his second album Baby to significant praise, is celebrated for hits such as “Yamaha” and “The Dress.” His unique blend of alternative and neo-soul has seen him collaborate with artists like Charli XCX, Kenny Beats, and Brockhampton, as well as mainstream stars such as Justin Bieber and Mk.gee, the latter having made his SNL debut last year.
The current season, overseen by Lorne Michaels, has already featured a diverse lineup of hosts and musical talents, including Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, Sabrina Carpenter, Miles Teller, and Nikki Glaser. Musical appearances have been equally star-studded, with performances from Doja Cat, Carpenter, Brandi Carlile, and Role Model.
