‘CBS Saturday Morning’ Hosts Bid A Tearful Goodbye On Final Broadcast: “What A Gift That This Show Was”

CBS Saturday Morning co-hosts Dana Jacobson and Michelle Miller shared an emotional farewell during their last episode of the weekend news show.

“After seven wonderful years of kicking off your weekends, it’s time for us to say farewell,” Miller started, holding Jacobson’s hand. “CBS Saturday Morning will continue to deliver the top-notch news and stories you’ve come to expect from CBS News. We’re rooting for our colleagues to succeed.”

Jacobson continued, “Leaving wasn’t our decision, but we did get to choose how we say goodbye, which includes expressing our gratitude to the incredible team behind the scenes—producers, photographers, sound engineers, editors, and everyone involved in wardrobe and makeup. They’re the reason we could bring these stories to you.”

Jacobson, who had previously spent ten years with ESPN, became visibly moved as she reflected on her tenure at Saturday Morning: “This show has been an incredible journey. It allowed me to travel the world, meet fascinating people, and share their stories—what I love doing most.”

“The true gift, however, has been our viewers,” Jacobson said, her voice filled with emotion. “Whether I met you at the airport, the gym, a Celtics game, or just walking my dog, Barkley, your appreciation for Saturday Morning and the knowledge we shared has meant everything. Thank you for affirming that our work is meaningful—that it truly matters.”

Miller also looked back on her personal journey, recalling her arrival in New York City 22 years earlier with “no job in sight, just a determined reporter with connections that would give me a chance.”

She concluded, “SatMo provided us a platform to elevate significant stories from diverse perspectives and to tell them thoroughly. To our audience, thank you for inspiring us and trusting us to delve deeper. Every story I’ve told has reminded me that change isn’t just an end; it’s a progression, and it’s also an opportunity to find a deeper sense of belonging.”

In their final moments on air, the co-hosts toasted with champagne and gave a special thanks to executive producer Brian Applegate, senior broadcast producer Tony DiPolvere, and former host Anthony Mason.

Last month, news broke that Miller and Jacobson were leaving due to layoffs at Paramount’s CBS News. The weekday CBS Mornings team will now take over the Saturday edition.

These layoffs impacted approximately 100 CBS News staff members and were part of broader cuts at Paramount, which saw around 1,000 employees dismissed following the acquisition by Skydance. An additional 1,000 layoffs are anticipated in the near future.
