‘Bad Sisters’ Creator Sharon Horgan Plans To Bring Julia May Jonas’ ‘Vladimir’ Adaptation To Screen

Even though the narrative of Bad Sisters on Apple TV+ concluded with the Season 2 finale on Christmas, Sharon Horgan, the show’s creator, is already diving into a new venture.

In a recent conversation with Bustle for their “One Nightstand” segment, Horgan expressed her excitement about adapting Julia May Jonas’s novel Vladimir for television. Jonas approached Horgan with the idea.

“At the time, I was fully immersed in producing Bad Sisters and really couldn’t think of taking on anything else. Julia hadn’t tackled a screenplay before, so they pitched it to me to see if we could collaborate,” Horgan recounted to Bustle. “Initially, I declined due to my schedule, but they persuaded me to at least read the first chapter. After that, I found a way to make it work.”

The story within Vladimir revolves around a college professor who develops an intense fascination with a new colleague amid her husband’s involvement in a scandal concerning sexual misconduct.

While Horgan is open to making a small on-screen appearance, she is primarily focused on her role behind the scenes for this adaptation.

“Being a single parent, I try to select projects close to home,” Horgan explained. “It’s not always possible, but it’s a priority. Plus, I enjoy working on projects where I can focus on directing and choosing the perfect cast.”

Horgan also shared some of her favorite reads including Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises, Jennette McCurdy’s I’m Glad My Mom Died, and Irvin D. Yalom’s Love’s Executioner.
