Widespread Recall of Frozen Entrées Due to Listeria Risks
On the first of October, Demers Food Group initiated a recall of their Scott & Jon’s Shrimp Scampi with Linguine due to potential listeria contamination in one of the pasta components. Listeria is a harmful bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a severe infection whose symptoms include fever, headaches, muscle stiffness, nausea, abdominal discomfort, and diarrhea—symptoms that are similar to those of other foodborne illnesses. The infection poses a significant threat to children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems, potentially leading to fatal outcomes.

The recall of Scott & Jon’s products is linked to an ongoing inquiry into Nate’s Fine Foods, which supplied the contaminated ingredient. Nate’s Fine Foods is also connected to several other recent health warnings and recalls, including:
- Walmart’s Marketside Linguine With Beef Meatballs & Marinara Sauce
- Walmart and Kroger’s Marketside Grilled Chicken Alfredo with Fettuccine and Home Chef Heat & Eat Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo
- Trader Joe’s Cajun Style Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo
The implicated Scott & Jon’s items were shipped nationwide to various distributors from September 15, 2025, to September 25, 2025. The specific retailers carrying these items weren’t immediately known, but chains like Walmart, Kroger, BJ’s Wholesale Club, and Publix are among the potential carriers. More information will follow as it becomes available.

Recall Alert: Contaminated Fresh Cantaloupe
On the last day of September, Minneapolis-based Wholesale Produce Supply recalled their freshly cut cantaloupes, sold in clear plastic containers under the “Harvest Cuts” and “Fresh & Finest” brands. The recall also includes mixed fruit packs that contain cantaloupe.
The recall was prompted after routine testing showed potential contamination with listeria bacteria. These products were initially distributed in Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin, though it’s possible they reached additional states through various retailers.
Production has been suspended at Wholesale Produce Supply as they investigate the source of the contamination. Further details are still pending.
For additional information or concerns, contact Steve Foster, the vice president of Food Safety & QA at Wholesale Produce Supply, at 612-378-2025. Affected products can also be returned to the purchase location for a full refund.

Massive Recall of Corn Dogs Due to Wood Contamination
On September 27, Hillshire Brands announced a recall of 58 million pounds of its classic corn dogs and other similar products like sausage-and-pancake-on-a-stick, following several consumer complaints that led to five reported injuries. These complaints revealed that the batter might contain small pieces of wood.
The recall is classified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) as a Class I, indicating a high risk of serious health consequences or death. Small wood pieces can cause injuries ranging from minor scratches to more severe internal damage.
Hillshire Brands has traced the issue to wooden sticks being accidentally incorporated into the batter during production.
The impacted products were packaged from March 17, 2025, to September 26, 2025, and carry the establishment numbers “EST-582” or “P-894” on their labels.
FSIS has published a detailed list of the recalled products and their expiration dates. Some of the more popular items include State Fair Corn Dogs, State Fair Turkey Corn Dogs, and Jimmy Dean Pancakes & Sausage On A Stick.
The recalled items were available online and at major retailers like Walmart and Sam’s Club. They were also distributed to school districts (not including those supplied through the USDA’s National School Lunch Program) and Department of Defense facilities nationwide.
If you find these products in your home, either return them for a refund or dispose of them completely. If you suspect you’ve been injured by consuming the product, seek medical attention right away.
For any questions regarding the recall, please contact Christina Self, the associate director of customer care at Hillshire Brands, at 888-747-7611.
