The broken leg of defensive end Aidan Hutchinson in mid-October marked the start of a series of injuries for the 12-2 Lions this season. Along with the loss of three vital defensive players last Sunday against the Bills, the team’s leading touchdown scorer, running back David Montgomery, also suffered a torn MCL, ending his season early.
However, there’s a silver lining. Hutchinson has echoed recent reports from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, stating that he could return for the Super Bowl if Detroit makes it that far:
“My recovery is on target for me to come back for the Super Bowl,” the 24-year-old mentioned during a podcast with actor Taylor Lautner. “I keep telling the guys every time I see them at the facility, ‘Just make it to the game, and I promise I’ll be back.'”
If Dan Campbell’s energetic speech didn’t already energize Lions fans today, here’s a segment from Taylor Lautner’s interview with Aidan Hutchinson– where he promises his return for the Super Bowl– shown on @gmfb today. pic.twitter.com/q31uLxmUef

This revelation followed an emphatic radio call from Dan Campbell on Tuesday morning, where he confidently cheered on his NFC-leading Lions with some colorful language.
After only their second defeat this season, Detroit is gearing up for their next game this Sunday, when they travel to Chicago to face the 4-10 Bears.
