For optimal results, this method suits steel-cut or rolled oats best. To begin, place the oats in a dry skillet over medium-high heat. Stir them frequently until they turn golden in spots and emit a rich, nutty scent. There’s no need to add fats like butter or oil to achieve this effect.
Keep a close eye on the skillet to prevent the oats from burning; toasting about a half cup of oats should take roughly five minutes. Once you detect the delightful aroma of toasted oats, proceed with your usual oatmeal preparation method.
