Trump Unveils “Media Offender Of the Week” + “Hall Of Shame” On White House Website: David Ellison-Owned & Bari Weiss-Run CBS News Makes The List

This week, Donald Trump has intensified his ongoing assault on female reporters and has taken his battle against the so-called “enemy of the people” to the digital realm by launching a new page on the White House website.

In the wake of a heartbreaking shooting involving two members of the West Virginia National Guard in DC on November 26, and amid a series of posts on Truth Social along with continued critiques of Joe Biden’s administration by the former Apprentice star, the executive branch unveiled an attack on what it calls “the Media Offender of the Week.” The page vows to document a history of what the White House claims are erroneous and deceptive reports by the media, catalogued in a detailed “Hall of Shame” that archives several months of content. It also invites users to “Scroll for the Truth.”

In a somewhat unexpected move, the site criticizes CBS News, now managed by Bari Weiss and owned by David Ellison, for its portrayal of Trump’s response to former Navy pilot Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and five other Congress members. These members produced a video this week calling on troops to defy unlawful orders and uphold their constitutional oath. Trump took to the internet to accuse Kelly and the others of “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH,” and shared another post from Truth Social that demanded, “HANG THEM,” among other rebukes.

Joining CBS News in the spotlight on the Media Offenders page are the Boston Globe and the UK’s The Independent. The page accuses these outlets of grossly misrepresenting Trump’s calls for Congress members to be held accountable for inciting sedition by alleging he demanded their “execution.”

Overlooking the controversial “execution” comment, a key message from the White House states: “President Trump has never issued an illegal order. The Fake News is aware of this but chose to run with the story anyway.”

As anyone who’s paid attention over the past four decades can attest, Trump has built his career on media attacks, branding them as “fake news.” So, this latest development isn’t entirely out of character.

Revealed today on White House social media channels and by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, the Media Offenders initiative seems unprecedented in its breadth. The site lists numerous television segments, newspaper articles, and online pieces that have reportedly displeased the White House, highlighted by a Hall of Shame that features a leaderboard.

This leaderboard includes the Washington Post, owned by Jeff Bezos, who is often seen as a Trump ally, and the soon-to-be possibly David Ellison-owned Warner Bros Discovery’s CNN, as well as the Comcast-owned MSNBC (recently rebranded as MS Now). CBS News also appears, despite recent favorable comments from Trump about its new leadership under Ellison.

CBS News, the Washington Post, CNN, and MSNBC top the leaderboard, followed by the Trump-sued New York Times, Politico, and Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal. Trump may be suing the WSJ for $15 billion over its coverage linking him with the deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, but, unlike the multimillion-dollar lawsuit threatened against the BBC, Fox News is conspicuously absent from the Media Offenders lists.

Doubling down, the White House features a visual array re-listing some alleged offenders. Late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, and Stephen Colbert, often targets of Trump’s ire, are not singled out this time, but the list includes a few other outlets, even those generally favorable to MAGA principles.

The White House has not responded to inquiries from Deadline regarding the new Media Offenders webpage this post-Thanksgiving Friday. Similarly, representatives for CBS News have not commented on their inclusion in the inaugural Media Offenders list.

Recently, in his first 60 Minutes interview since a controversial $16 million settlement over a pre-election interview with Kamala Harris, Trump praised Free Press founder and newly appointed CBS News Editor-in-chief Weiss as “a great person.” He has also commended David Ellison and his billionaire father Larry Ellison as “friends” and “supporters,” describing the recent changes at CBS News as “the greatest thing to happen in a long time for a free, open, and honest press.”

It appears CBS News, Ellison, and Weiss might not share this sentiment tonight.

Moreover, with Trump showcasing a “TRUMPLICANS!” AI-generated image of a 2028 campaign poster today, it seems even the Constitution might not be feeling the love.
