In a recent episode of SNL, Audrey Plaza took on the role of the newcomer in a spoof of Netflix’s popular series The Hunting Wives. The late-night sketch show characterized it as a “straight but lesbian, horny Republican murder drama.”
Amy Poehler stepped into the shoes of Malin Akerman’s character, Margo, and made quite the entrance by baring her chest to Chloe Fineman, who portrayed Brittany Snow’s character, Sophie. In what they called Season 2 of the series, Fineman’s character, Sophie, returns from prison, eager to rekindle a romance with her sultry brunette from Texas.
“All your favorites are back and they’re as mischievous as ever,” announced the voice-over. “Expect thigh squeezing and gun drawing.”
As the teaser shows Poehler affectionately handling a rifle next to Fineman, the voice-over shares, “People Magazine comments, it’s like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ for women who frequent Bass Pro Shop.” It also poked fun at less-than-stellar wigs and the young characters who get involved with Snow’s flirtatious role.
Watch on Deadline
Plaza appears as the “new new girl who joins the group,” recently arrived from California. Tensions flare when the group discovers Plaza’s character is a lesbian, leading them to dramatically brandish their rifles.
