Shocking Secrets Unveiled in BBC’s ‘Crookhaven’ Trailer – Watch Now!

We’re thrilled to present the first look at the BBC’s thrilling new series Crookhaven, inspired by the acclaimed novels by J.J. Arcanjo. The show is set to premiere on March 22.

The series features Dougray Scott, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Keith Allen, and up-and-coming star Amari Bacchus. Set in a clandestine academy for aspiring masterminds, the students, dubbed Crooklings, are trained in the art of thievery with the noble goal of restoring balance and justice to society. The trailer introduces these intriguing characters and can be watched above.

The narrative focuses on the young prodigy Gabriel (played by Lucas Leach) and his nemesis, the headmaster’s daughter Penelope (portrayed by Carmel Laniado). The plot unfolds around a diverse group of young students from various parts of the world, who compete for the notorious Crooked Cup, while simultaneously confronting a formidable foe known as The Nameless.

Shot in Northern Ireland, the series was developed for TV by Justin Young and is one of the most awaited productions from BBC Studios Kids & Family, also known for the Oliver Twist adaptation, Dodger.

Crookhaven received backing from Northern Ireland Screen. The creative team is led by Tali Walters, with Mark Freeland serving as executive producer. The directors include Jon East (known for Killing Eve, Downton Abbey) and Jamie Magnus Stone (Doctor Who), with Leon McGeown-Fee as the producer. The series commissioning was overseen by Sarah Muller, Senior Head of BBC Children’s Commissioning 7+, and Amy Buscombe, Commissioning Editor for the BBC. BBC Studios is responsible for the global distribution.
