New Limited-Edition OREO Flavor Drops and It’s a Game Changer!

Have you ever found yourself mesmerized by the extensive array of OREO options in the cookie aisle of your local supermarket? Although I primarily just browse, I’ve sampled several of the novel OREO varieties such as Coca-Cola, Apple Cider Donut, and Fruity Pebbles. Last year, I even participated in an OREO taste-testing event, where I discovered the OREO Cakesters and was surprised to learn they had been around for nearly two decades.

OREO has announced the release of a new flavor in partnership with Selena Gomez. The Limited Edition Selena Gomez OREO Cookie draws inspiration from horchata and features two chocolate cinnamon-flavored wafers with a filling of both chocolate and cinnamon cream, plus a layer of sweetened condensed milk-flavored cream.

Inspired by her childhood memories, Selena collaborated with OREO to develop this comforting, nostalgic flavor. The cookies are distinctively embossed, with Selena’s signature appearing on approximately one in every three packages.

What Makes the New Horchata OREO So Exciting

While some past OREO flavors seemed too wild to be enjoyable, like Coca-Cola or Sour Patch Kids (trust me, they were not great), and were likely designed for their novelty, others have been overly cautious, like Brownie Batter and Blackout Cake, which were essentially just chocolate-flavored OREOs.

This new cookie perfectly balances being safe and daring. Horchata, with its sweet, cinnamon-vanilla essence derived from rice, provides a solid base for a cookie flavor, yet it’s something I wouldn’t have expected in an OREO.

My Genuine Thoughts on the New Flavor

I had the opportunity to sample these OREOs ahead of their release, curious to see if they truly captured the essence of horchata. The verdict? They do! Although the horchata element isn’t as pronounced as I anticipated, the combination of the sweet and spiced cream does evoke the flavor of horchata. However, paired with the chocolate-cinnamon wafer, the cookies overall brought to mind Mexican hot chocolate more than anything.

Regardless, these cookies are a delicious treat, particularly when dunked in milk, as is tradition with OREOs. The added cinnamon twist in both the wafer and cream makes this variety stand out, and I can see myself choosing these over the regular OREOs.

Availability of the New Horchata Oreos

The Limited Edition Selena Gomez OREOs will be available for pre-order in the US starting on June 2nd, 2025, and will hit stores nationwide on June 9, 2025, while supplies last. In conjunction with this launch, OREO will also be donating to the Rare Impact Fund, an initiative founded by Selena to provide mental health resources to young people. I’ll be enjoying these OREOs like a love song for as long as I can!
