KitchenAid’s Color of the Year Is the Calming Hue We Need in 2026

Amidst the global tumult, the design team at KitchenAid has tapped into the zeitgeist, choosing Spearmint as their 2026 Color of the Year on February 10. This selection introduces a playful and relaxed vibe that feels just right for the times.

KitchenAid describes Spearmint as a “vibrant and soothing minty-green that beckons you to embrace the refreshing side of life.” This choice is a vibrant contrast to Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2026, Cloud Dancer, a gentle, pale off-white. While both colors aim to bring serenity, KitchenAid’s approach is noticeably more spirited.

The Spearmint color has a coastal flair—it conjures images of sea glass or a boldly painted beach house. It’s a hue that encourages you to unwind and enjoy life.

My Reasons for Adoring This Color in 2026

Scientific research supports the notion that green shades are soothing. Connected to the lushness of nature, green tones are known to induce calmness—something I deeply appreciate during intense baking marathons when I suddenly realize I’ve run out of flour.

Although Spearmint is quite different from 2025’s Color of the Year, the warm, creamy Butter, it still evokes a charming, retro kitchen feel, which is both comforting and inviting.

I find this Color of the Year to be unexpectedly adaptable, fitting seamlessly into both a rustic farmhouse and my apartment’s contemporary design. It may be bolder than typical appliance colors, but that’s exactly what makes it so appealing! My own 14-year-old KitchenAid mixer, in a soft pink, adds a nostalgic yet fresh look to my modern kitchen. I consider my mixer as much a piece of decorative art as it is a vital kitchen tool—it brightens up the space without adding unnecessary clutter.

A Unique Finish on This Mixer

I’m intrigued by the Spearmint mixers’ “tactical, sandy finish.” It’s unclear whether this feature is meant to enhance grip or if it’s simply a design choice that provides a matte look instead of the traditional glossy enamel most KitchenAid mixers sport.

If you’re considering adding a pop of Spearmint to your kitchen, the KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer in this fresh hue will be available starting February 12, priced at $499.99.
