Incident at Fan Convention: Martin Kove Removed
Over the past weekend, at a fan gathering in Puyallup, Washington, Martin Kove, known for his role in both Karate Kid and Cobra Kai, was expelled following an incident involving his co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim. Reports suggest that Kove bit Hannah-Kim on the arm unprovoked as she walked by his meet-and-greet station. The bite was forceful enough that it nearly broke the skin. Following her outcry of pain, Kove reportedly kissed her arm, as detailed in a police report reviewed by TMZ. Deadline has also verified the details of this incident.
According to the police report, after the biting event, Hannah-Kim and her spouse, Sebastian Roche, who witnessed the occurrence, confronted Kove. They expressed that his actions were utterly inappropriate. The report quotes Hannah-Kim recounting how Kove reacted angrily when she calmly asked him not to bite her, insisting that his biting was meant in jest.
Event Details and Police Intervention
Despite the distressing situation, Hannah-Kim decided against pressing charges, though she did request that a police report be filed to document the incident, including photographs of her arm displaying a clear and bruising bite mark. Following the filing of the report, police instructed Kove to vacate the premises of the event.
Representatives for both Kove and Hannah-Kim, as well as the Puyallup Police Department, have been approached by Deadline for comments on the matter.
The news of the altercation quickly circulated among those at the event. An insider familiar with the situation at the Washington State Summer Con shared with Deadline that the matter was resolved swiftly on-site and concluded almost as quickly as it began.
Kove and Hannah-Kim were among several Cobra Kai actors attending the Summer Con, which also included Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Rayna Vallandingham, and Patrick Luwis.
Martin Kove is widely recognized for his portrayal of the hot-headed sensei John Kreese in the original three Karate Kid films and continued this role in the Netflix series Cobra Kai, appearing alongside Ralph Macchio and William Zabka through all six seasons. Alicia Hannah-Kim joined the cast of Cobra Kai in its fifth season, playing the role of South Korean sensei Kim Da-Eun, and has remained a part of the series since.
