Tina Fey recently set the record straight regarding rumors of a potential Golden Girls reboot that was supposedly in the works.
During a recent chat, the acclaimed 30 Rock actress and creator discussed the buzz around a promotional image of The Golden Girls that made rounds on social media.
“Yes, I heard about it,” she remarked to Entertainment Tonight. “I found it amusing that this fooled anyone. How could we have a photo with Amy and Lisa Kudrow in full makeup and not us? If you fell for this, you might be from the Boomer generation. And if you’re from Gen X and got tricked, maybe you should check into a hospital.”
The misleading post had claimed that Disney+ was planning a new version of the iconic sitcom with Fey portraying Dorothy, Amy Poehler as Sophia, Lisa Kudrow as Rose, and Maya Rudolph as Blanche.

Fey expressed a strong sentiment about the idea, stating, “I would never dare remake that show; the original cast is irreplaceable.”
When Maya Rudolph was questioned about the viral image during her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, she described it as “intriguing” and noted it was “interesting to see” it circulating.
Upon seeing the fake poster, Rudolph was puzzled about which character she was supposed to represent.
“It seems like they just gave up,” Rudolph commented, pointing out that only Poehler and Kudrow were aged in the image, unlike her and Fey.
The Golden Girls, created by Susan Harris, featured Bea Arthur as Dorothy, Betty White as Rose, Rue McClanahan as Blanche, and Estelle Getty as Sophia. The beloved show, which centered around four mature women sharing a home in Miami, aired on NBC from 1985 to 1992 across seven seasons.
