The search for a groundbreaking AI application for everyday users is still ongoing.

Nvidia, a leader in AI accelerator technology, has recently unveiled a new X (formerly Twitter) profile. Known as @Nvidia_AI_PC, this account focuses on RTX AI PCs and aims to bring AI closer to the general public. Its biography states, “Nvidia Powers the World’s AI. And Yours with RTX AI PCs,” and the top pinned tweet invites users, “Whether you are deep into AI or just a little curious, we’re here to explore the power of AI on your local PC.”

This social media channel will serve up the latest updates, technology news, and AI concepts from Team Green, all with the goal of enhancing AI technology on consumer devices. This is especially significant as it appears that most consumers still do not fully grasp AI, with many purchasing an AI PC simply because it is the only option available in 2024. Despite being a top producer of AI technology in data centers and enterprise environments, Nvidia likely faces its toughest competition in the consumer market, contending with Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, and even Apple, all of which manufacture processors equipped with integrated NPUs.

Previously, the company has been critical of AI PCs, arguing that their performance only suits basic AI tasks and that its GPUs deliver superior performance, achieving anywhere from 100 to over 1,300 TOPS, depending on the model. Additionally, rumors and news suggest that Nvidia will soon launch an Arm-based processor in 2025, a speculation that gained more traction after top executives from Nvidia, TSMC, MediaTek, and Quanta were seen dining together before Computex 2024. While it’s tempting to dismiss this gathering as simply a casual meeting, it might also hint at an informal deal to produce consumer AI CPUs, given that these four companies together have the capabilities to manufacture a laptop from scratch.

Indeed, Nvidia has not hidden its ambitions to penetrate the CPU market. The company even made a bid to acquire Arm, the entity behind the architecture used in Snapdragon X and Apple M chips. However, this acquisition was blocked by several regulatory bodies, including the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Masayoshi Son, leader of SoftBank which owns 90% of Arm, have both expressed regret over not merging the two firms nearly a decade earlier.

The introduction of the Nvidia AI PC account on Twitter/X marks yet another attempt by the company to replicate its data center AI success in the consumer domain. Should Nvidia manage to launch its own AI CPU, it would introduce another player into the already crowded processor market, competing directly with giants like Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, and Apple.
