Francis J. Conway Passes Away at 70

Francis J. Conway, a revered production manager from West Los Angeles, known for his work on popular TV shows such as Baywatch and Criminal Minds, passed away from natural causes on December 17 at UCLA Medical Center. He was 70 years old.

His brother, John, confirmed his passing.

Conway was born in Westwood and attended UC Santa Cruz, where he pursued his studies in film. His brother John fondly remembers how Francis was devoted to the film industry, often seen driving his Volkswagen bus around, eager to assist anyone in need on set. “He loved it and felt blessed to be part of the industry,” John said.

Francis Conway’s significant career opportunity came when he joined the original Baywatch team as a unit production manager. He worked on the series from 1996 until 2001, and he was involved again in 2003 for the Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding TV movie.

Viewing Opportunities

Throughout his extensive career, Conway also managed production units for a host of other notable television series including The Agency, My Wife and Kids, ER, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Prison Break, Special Delivery, Criminal Minds, Stalker, Code Black, SEAL Team, Big Shot, and The Consultant.

“I remember attending the premiere of Baywatch; one of them was in Hawaii,” John reminisced. “He really loved the beach.”

Francis is mourned by his siblings John, Mary, Anne, and Joe. He was preceded in death by another brother, Chris, and his parents. Details regarding his funeral services are yet to be announced.
