Olive Garden’s Signature Italian Salad Dressing is arguably one of the top bottled dressings available, perfect for recreating that unlimited salad bar experience at home. But it’s not cheap, often retailing for at least $4, and sometimes I’ve seen it priced up to $6 or $7. While I adore the flavor, the cost is a bit steep for regular purchases.
Luckily, Aldi offers a stellar alternative: the Tuscan Garden Restaurant Style Italian Salad Dressing. It’s available at my local Aldi for just $2.15 for a 16-ounce bottle, significantly less expensive than the brand-name counterpart, costing about half or even a third of the price.
The flavor of this dressing instantly transported me back to my first visit to Olive Garden, evoking fond memories of those irresistibly greasy warm breadsticks and the crisp, endless salads. It boasts a similar rich texture and a robust taste of garlic and Italian herbs. If you weren’t looking at the bottle, you might well believe it was the original dressing.

Myriad Uses for Aldi’s Italian Dressing
You can recreate Olive Garden’s classic salad using ingredients like black olives, crunchy iceberg lettuce, tangy peperoncini peppers, shredded cabbage and carrots, tomatoes, and generous amounts of Parmesan cheese and croutons. This is always a hit.
I prefer to elevate it a bit by using romaine lettuce instead of iceberg, substituting black olives with pitted kalamatas, and using red bell peppers in place of the mildly spicy peperoncini, which my family tends to set aside.
Another favorite of mine is tossing this dressing with baby spinach, blue cheese, dried cranberries, and pecans for a delightful twist on a traditional spinach salad.
But there’s more to this dressing than just leafy greens.
Imagine drizzling Aldi’s Italian dressing over feta cheese, tomatoes, and slices of watermelon—it’s unexpectedly delightful. Add some sliced prosciutto to the mix, and you’ve got a sensational flavor combination.
It’s also perfect for pasta salads, like a traditional Italian pasta salad with a blend of olives, cold cuts, and small mozzarella cubes. Try it on a broccoli and cauliflower pasta salad for an extra punch of flavor. I’ve even mixed this dressing with some mayo for an incredible tuna salad. Add a little chopped red bell pepper and olives for an extra kick.
This dressing is also an excellent marinade for chicken breasts or thighs—which are delicious whether baked or grilled. Combining this dressing with some red wine makes for a fabulous steak marinade.
My son loves dipping his stuffed-crust pizza into this dressing, and it’s equally great as a bread dip. But, mostly, we keep coming back to using it in salads.
