Apple is gearing up for the release of its much-awaited series, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, inspired by Rufi Thorpe’s novel.
The adaptation boasts an impressive lineup of stars, including Elle Fanning, Nick Offerman, and Michelle Pfeiffer, among others, and has officially begun production.

Elle Fanning is set to portray Margo Millet, the daughter of a Hooters waitress and a former professional wrestler. Nicole Kidman will play a key role as the mediator between Margo and her ex-boyfriend, Mark, who was also her former English teacher. The casting of Michael Angarano as Mark was also confirmed.
Nick Offerman has been cast as Margo’s father, Jinx, while Michelle Pfeiffer will take on the role of Margo’s mother, Shyanne.
Exclusive reports from Deadline revealed Thaddea Graham (Bad Sisters, Sex Education) will play Margo’s roommate, Susie. Marcia Gay Harden is set for a guest appearance in the series.
Greg Kinnear will play Kenny, Shyanne’s devout boyfriend, as exclusively reported by Deadline.
Lindsey Normington (Anora), rapper and singer-songwriter Rico Nasty, and Michael Workèyè (My Lady Jane) will also join the cast, playing Rose, KC, and JB respectively. Rose and KC are users of OnlyFans, where JB is a new acquaintance of Margo.
Plot of Margo’s Got Money Troubles
Following the storyline of Thorpe’s novel, the series explores Margo’s life as she becomes pregnant following a brief affair with her English teacher, Mark, from her local junior college. At 20, Margo is unemployed and facing eviction. When her estranged father offers to move in and help with childcare, she reluctantly agrees. To make ends meet, Margo starts an OnlyFans account, using some unconventional advice from her father’s wrestling days.

Production Team Behind Margo’s Got Money Troubles
Elle Fanning and Kidman will not only star in the series but also serve as executive producers, alongside Elle’s sister Dakota Fanning. David E. Kelley will join them with A24 as the studio. Apple secured the rights after a fierce competition with other streamers, including Netflix.
Apple has appointed BAFTA and Emmy winner Dearbhla Walsh (Bad Sisters, Fargo), Kate Herron (The Last of Us, Loki), and Alice Seabright (Sex Education, Chloe) to direct episodes of the series.
