Personally, I don’t purchase instant coffee for drinking purposes. Although, I always keep a jar in my kitchen for recipes that require instant coffee or a robust cup of coffee. Therefore, I decided to consult a few coffee connoisseurs for their recommendations on the best instant coffee brands, and frankly, their suggestion was a game-changer. It’s the best I’ve tasted by far.

Both baristas are unanimous in their recommendation: Blue Bottle Craft Instant Coffee is the best on the market.
Technically speaking, Blue Bottle’s instant coffee is crafted to make espresso, which is the base for both iced and hot lattes, among other custom coffee beverages made at home. Start by making espresso shots and then proceed to craft your coffee drink. For a standard cup of joe? Just add hot water to create an Americano. Prefer a latte? Mix in some steamed milk.
When brewing the espresso, whether it’s Blue Bottle or another brand, both experts agree that a common mistake is pouring hot water directly onto the coffee granules.
“When making instant coffee, a typical error is to add hot water straight onto the dry granules,” Lubitz explains. “This action shocks the coffee, resulting in a harsh taste. Instead, start by mixing a few tablespoons of cold or room-temperature water with the coffee to dissolve it. Then, add hot water to achieve the desired strength and temperature.”
Ghambari suggests first dissolving the granules in milk, then topping it off with hot water around 160°F or slightly warmer. Armed with this product recommendation and useful brewing tip, I’m confident I can enjoy a great coffee experience anytime, anywhere!
