This holiday season, my friends and I planned a festive girls’ night themed around Christmas. We agreed on no specific rules for our holiday drinks but decided that all our snacks would be dips of some kind.
We quickly added beloved classics like buffalo chicken dip and nacho dip to our list, but we also wanted to include a variety of both sweet and savory festive dips. One dip I was eager to make was the popular 3-ingredient Hot Cocoa Dip from TikTok.
Exploring Hot Cocoa Dip
If you haven’t yet stumbled upon this quick, effortless, and festive treat, let me fill you in. This dip is incredibly simple to prepare, making it ideal for those who prefer minimal time in the kitchen but still want to bring a delightful, semi-homemade item to a holiday gathering.
The dip consists of ready-made no-bake cheesecake filling, marshmallow fluff, and hot cocoa mix. If you like, top it off with freeze-dried marshmallows, and serve it with a variety of cookies, pretzels, candies, or fruit for dipping.
Creating This Popular Dip
Start by picking up a tub of no-bake cheesecake filling from the dairy section of your grocery store. If you’re serving a small group, a cup of this filling will do (save the rest for another trendy dip, like caramel apple), but use the entire tub for larger gatherings.
Mix the cheesecake filling with an equal portion of marshmallow creme and about three tablespoons of hot cocoa mix per cup of cheesecake filling. And that’s literally all there is to it!
You can use any brand or type of hot cocoa mix you prefer, including homemade versions. My personal favorite is Swiss Miss Marshmallow Lovers because it comes with three packets of freeze-dried marshmallows, making it easy to get just the right amount for this recipe without overspending.
Ideal Pairings for Hot Cocoa Dip
This rich, creamy dip has a slight tang from the cheesecake filling’s cream cheese. At my dip-themed party, I’m planning to offer a variety of dippers including mini pretzels, graham crackers, shortbread, gingersnaps, Oreos, vanilla wafers, and strawberries.
Feel free to enjoy this dip with any of your favorite cookies. Traditional gingerbread cookies or peanut butter blossoms would be exceptional choices. You could also try it with pieces of pound cake or chunks of dense, fudgy brownies. And when you run out of dippers, just use a spoon—this festive treat is too delicious to waste!
