Discover ALDI’s Summer Must-Have Under $10 That You Can’t Miss!

It’s hard to believe that a large storage container would top my summer essentials list, but after discovering this $10 treasure at ALDI, it has. For the past few years, ALDI has been offering various sizes of Crofton Fruit Bowls. These sets, available in Large and Small (the latter sold as a duo), include a bowl, a colander insert, and a lid.

Last week, while checking out ALDI Finds, I recalled spotting the Large Cut Fruit Bowl on social media platforms like Reddit and TikTok last summer. I picked it up on a whim. I’ve already started using this brilliant item in my kitchen, and I’m telling you now, get one before they’re gone for the season!

Exploring ALDI’s Crofton Large Cut Fruit Bowl 

This oversized food storage container, which can hold up to seven quarts (excluding the insert), is crafted for storing cut fruit. The built-in strainer lets excess juice flow into the outer container, keeping fruits like watermelon or strawberries fresher longer. It features a snug lid that covers both the container and strainer, equipped with dual spouts to drain the juice.

As advertised, it can contain all the pieces from a medium-sized watermelon. This sizable fruit bowl is dishwasher safe and has a somewhat square shape that ensures it doesn’t occupy too much space in your fridge or cupboard.

Additional Uses for the Crofton Large Cut Fruit Bowl 

I got the Large Cut Fruit Bowl the same day my local farm’s CSA program kicked off, which brought home a bounty of produce to clean. This is when I realized it serves as an ideal basin for washing produce. You can either rinse items like lettuce directly in the strainer or immerse the strainer in the filled bowl to gently swish the vegetables. It also works well as a makeshift salad spinner! Now, I use the bowl to keep my lettuce ready for salads throughout the week.

While I haven’t used it for washing and storing fresh berries yet, I anticipate it being effective for that purpose too. It could also serve as an excellent ice bucket to keep summer wines chilled on the patio, allowing the meltwater to drain away as we enjoy our drinks.
