Newly formed national organisation for women called Women Of Zimbabwe (WOZ) is planning digital marketing training for women in business around the country as a way of developing their businesses during the Covid-19 era.

The organisation has members in every district in the country led by an administrator who will be assisting in the coordination of the programmes.

Speaking to H-Metro, WOZ director Patricia Chinyoka said the organisation will soon host digital marketing training programmes for women in business and those who intend to start their businesses.

The idea is to develop women economically during this Covid-19 era whereby the traditional way of marketing and advertising of products has been disturbed by the lockdown restrictions which has minimised people’s movement.

“COVID-19 has clearly demonstrated that we all need to do things differently across all facets of life.  We have developed a mentoring programme which will launch this month.

“There are 120 women already registered and some of the key topics include: ‘How to develop digital marketing skills; financial literacy; how to set up a businesses?’

“The programme will run for three months with sessions taking place via WhatsApp and other social media platforms as appropriate,” said Chinyoka.

In addition WOZ is set to send women to Internet hubs in order to gain knowledge and skills on how to use the Information Technologies to develop their businesses.

“After COVID-19 lockdown restrictions are lifted, we hope that women (both in rural and urban communities) can attend Technology hubs where they can receive some training and support which are tailored to their needs.

“The digital skills gained will enable the women to start and/or enhance the marketing and retailing of their businesses online.

“We are also encouraging women to advertise their businesses on the WOZ WhatsApp platforms and to sell to each other, to make connections and extend their reach,” she said.

WOZ is a private voluntary organisation which was formed with intentions to develop women economically through providing them with necessary mentorship Programs and also connect them with individuals or organisations that can assist them in their income generating projects.

The organisation does not at the moment offer financial help as it is still lobbying for funding and would probably review their operating model if funding is availed.
