Two Zimbabwe Parks rangers who went missing while on duty after a fight with Zambian poachers at Lake Kariba have found dead, a spokesperson has conformed.
Zim Parks spokesperson Tinashe Farawo said the two were found after joint operation by Zimbabwe and Zambia.
“It is with great sadness that our two missing rangers have been found dead in Lake Kariba. ZimParks want to thank stakeholders, sisters’ security depts who worked tirelessly to search our rangers.
“The two rangers are indeed conservation heroes,” said Farawo.

It was reported on 2 January that the rangers had gone missing and are feared dead after a tussle with suspected poachers in Lake Kariba.
Police Acting National Spokesperson Superintendent Blessmore Chishaka confirmed to H-Metro the death of the two park rangers.
“We confirm the death of the two who died in Lake Kariba who went missing on January 2 this year.
“We cannot reveal their names at the moment since their next of kin have not yet been identified.”
