Lorne Michaels is making significant changes to the cast of Saturday Night Live as the show approaches its historic 50th season, leaving one former cast member quite surprised at the widespread departures.
Punkie Johnson, a former performer on the iconic NBC sketch comedy series from 2020 to 2024, has publicly expressed her solidarity with Devon Walker, Emil Wakim, and Michael Longfellow after they announced their exits from the show.
In a comment on Walker’s Instagram, Johnson wrote, “Welcome back Dev. It’s fun outside baby… love u.”

Johnson also showed her support for Wakim, stating, “You beautiful man… This is a shocker to us all I’m sure… We should stand at the doors of 30 Rock and act a fool for you… Keep your head up baby… Let’s play outside.. it’s been fun.”
Regarding Longfellow’s departure, she commented, “WTF is happening… This is like the departed… My sexy handsome work husband… I love you so much…I’ll call you… Welcome back outside baby…. I’ll see you out here soon.”

Johnson also reacted to writer Rosebud Baker‘s exit by commenting, “Rosebud for life… welcome back to outside stank… we having a good time.”
These remarks follow the news of cast member Heidi Gardner and writer Celeste Yim’s departures as well.
The season finale of SNL50 aired in May without any cast member farewells. However, last week Michaels confirmed his intention to revamp the lineup before the upcoming Season 51.
