Duo caught with dagga

TWO Harare men appeared in court after they were allegedly caught in possession of dagga.

Peter Maunga, 23, and Tanaka Chengai, 22, pleaded not guilty when they appeared before Harare magistrate Learnmore Mapiye facing charges of illegal possession of dagga

They were remanded in custody to January 14 for trial continuation.

The State led by Peter Kachirika alleges that on December 25 police detectives from Flora and Fauna Unit received information from their reliable source that Maunga and Chengai were in business of selling dagga at Machipisa Shopping Centre.

Acting on the information, police detectives wet to Machipisa Shopping Centre whereupon their arrival they saw the two accused holding their bags while talking to two boys suspected to be their clients.

The court heard that the police detectives approached the gang and introduced themselves before they carried a search on them.

Four kilograms of dagga were discovered in bags that Maunga and Chengai were holding and they were arrested at the scene.
