ZIMBABWE National Students Union (ZINASU) president Takudzwa Godfrey Ngadziore was back in court this weekend facing a fresh charge of participating in a public gathering to incite public violence and will be back in court today for bail ruling.
The 22-year-old, who had been granted bail last Monday in another matter, appeared before the same magistrate Judith Taruvinga, who reserved the bail ruling to today.
Allegations are that on September 18 at around 11am, the police carried out Covid -19 enforcement patrol duties along Chiremba Road adjacent Braeside Shops.
It is said that Ngadziore in the company of 20 other accomplices whose identities are yet to be established were gathered at OK Mart traffic lights holding placards and dressed in white and red striped jerseys similar to the ones worn by prisoners.
They then began demonstrating accusing Impala Car Rental’s manner of doing business.
Ngadziore and his alleged accomplices sang songs, and also uttered ‘Mbavha idzo dzakuuya’ pointing towards police officers and a misunderstanding arose between the two parties, the court heard.
Ngadziore was reportedly arrested while trying to flee.
Prosecutor Idah Maromo opposed bail arguing that he committed the offense 101 metres away from Impala Car Rental after being barred from getting into the 100 metres radius from Impala Car Rental radius and has the propensity to commit a similar offence if granted bail.
