Azam striker Prince Dube says his desire is to continue doing well and possibly win the golden boot in the Tanzanian top-flight.

The Zimbabwe international had a flying start in the 2020-21 Vodacom Premier League Season scoring twice in the team’s 2-0 in against Coastal Union on Friday.

The result meant Azam have recorded two successive wins with Dube creating the goal in the first game – a 1-0 win over Polisi TZ in a season opener.

And speaking after the match, the former Highlanders forward said he wants to payback the faith bestowed in him by the coaches.

“All I can say is I wish to do my best here. The coaches brought me here to add some value so I want to repay the faith they showed in me, do my best and give everyone at the club what they deserve;” said Dube.

The Young Warriors captain, on possibilities of finishing the season topping scoring charts, said the wish to score more goals.

“I wish to continue scoring more goals, whatever happens at the end of the season I will be grateful,” he said.

Meanwhile, another Warriors Tino Kadewere made his much-awaited competitive debut for his side Lyon in a goalless French Ligue 1 encounter against Bordeaux the same day.

Kadewere came on in the 73rd minute replacing Dutch international and Barcelona target Memphis Depay.

The Warriors star, speaking after the match, said he is delighted to make his debut for the team.

“The game didn’t go as planned because we wanted to win. We have to keep working. I’m very happy to have come on for the first time in Ligue 1,” said Kadewere.

It was a good week for Zimbabwean footballers abroad as Warriors Knowledge Musona’s team, KAS Eupen, finally registered their first win of the 2020/21 season, defeating Gent 2-1 also on Friday.

The team, which plays in the Belgian top-flight, had recorded three draws and one defeat in their previous encounters.

However, Musona was deployed in an unusual position, playing deep in a 4-3-3 formation and later withdrawn late in the second half.

In England, Macauley Bonne played the whole game as Charlton Athletic opened their 2020-21 League One campaign with a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra on Saturday.

Bonne has been impressive for the Addicks during pre-season though he was not on target at the weekend.

Marvelous Nakamba was an unused substitute in Aston Villa’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in a friendly on Saturday.

Nakamba was also in the news at the weekend after he changed his shirt number at the Claret and Blue to 19, surrendering number 11 to new signing Ollie Watkins.

Another Zimbabwean Victor Kamhuka continues with his fine form in the Myanmar National League in Asia as his team, Ayeyawady United, shot to the top of the standings after a 5-0 win over ISPE.

United have not recorded a defeat in 15 games so far this season with Kamhuka named Man of the Match on several occasions.

Kamhuka has also been named in the league team of the week three consecutive times.

With five matches remaining, Kamhuka said the desire is to remain focused.
