CHICKEN Inn midfielder Tichaona Chipunza says it is now difficult to stick to their set goals for the forthcoming season.
Chipunza said after their tour of Malawi during preseason and all the work they had done, they were convinced of landing their second Premiership title.
But now that football is suspended for close to three months now, the former Dynamos player said they need to restart.
“The desire is to win trophies and achieve. That was in my mind and everyone at the team when the league was about to start.
“Remember we had a successful tour of Malawi and everything we did as preparations for the league, we were raring to go and everyone was basking in confidence of winning the big one.
“But as it stands it’s a restart, so we can only start talking of ambitions after regrouping;” said Chipunza.
The former Ngezi Platinum midfielder said what is important at the moment is to remain positive and keep the winning mentality.
“When I say we are restarting it doesn’t mean giving up. It’s like we just need to start afresh on the work we had done.
“But all being said, we need to remain positive and keep the winning mentality within us. That is the message we are always sharing as players,” he said.
He also highlighted on the issue of fitness which he said is difficult to maintain especially training alone at home.
“The other issue of training without specific dates for the start of the league. Training alone as well, this thing is all about competition just like football itself.
“As it it stands, I’m just using the daily workouts we are getting from coaches to remain in shape but it’s totally different with being with the group,” said Chipunza.
He said the aim at the Gamecocks remains to win trophies and perform better.
Joey Antipas’ men were the runners up last season despite being well positioned to win it for the better part of the season.
“What is important is how you bounce back and fight when fall. That is important to me as an individual. We want to win more and achieve with this club,” he said.
