SEVERAL elderly and less fortunate people received food hampers from the Kadoma business community last week.
Speaking at the handover ceremony to 50 beneficiaries in KAdoma Ward 13 held at Monomotapa Primary School in Kadoma last Thursday, businessman Henry Absolom Zvidzai said it was the duty of everyone to take care of the elderly and less privileged in the community.
“We have to have a unity of purpose and help those in need.
“There is a lockdown induced by the Covid-19 pandemic and these elderly people are struggling in putting food on the table. Why don’t we help them to put smiles on their faces?” Zvidzai said.
Zvidzai who is former Eiffel Flats FC and HAZ Motors Division One Football league sponsor said they had done the same exercise in other 12 wards in Kadoma benefitting around 1000 people.
“This is not an exercise for only 50 people but all other wards have received food hampers and it is our wish that we continue assisting them.
“We hope our partners continue giving us handouts.
“All these food hampers were donated by local people and we want to thank them,” he said.
The ceremony was attended by Kadoma Central former MP Fani Phanuel Phiri, Ward 13 Councillor Emmanuel Mavata and youth leader Gift Masikini.
