HARARE City Council is set hold a workshop to train all urban local authorities on the 2019 Novel Coronavirus in Harare tomorrow.

This is a measure put in place by a recently formed board Health Services Forum, which is complimenting Government’s efforts to ensure that the country gets ready to tackle the virus in the eventuality that cases are reported in the country.

City Health Director Dr Prosper Chonzi who is also the chairman of the board said there was need for all health workers in urban authorities to be informed about the deadly virus.

“On Thursday (tomorrow), we are having training and orientation for all urban local authorities and some of the team members have confirmed their attendance.

“This is so because we want to make it practical as possible and then we will find a way of going to the various local authorities.

“We will train doctors and nurses who will later train other members at their workplaces because we want the training to cascade to everyone including the cleaners and security people to know how they should protect themselves,” he said.

Meanwhile, in showing its commitment to fighting the coronavirus, the Minister of Health and Child Care Dr Obadiah Moyo said they had already submitted their budget of US$5 222 432 to the treasury and in the meantime they were getting support from WHO and UNICEF.
