91 die in accidents

NINTY-ONE people perished between December 15 to 29 in 1141 road accidents recorded.

Sixty three of those accidents were fatal with 414 suffering injuries.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi urged motorists to be responsible and considerate on the roads as the New Year beckoned.

“Drivers should safeguard lives and avoid overtaking in situations which are not conducive.

“They should not speed and above all should comply with set road rules and regulations.

“Motorists should not be over excited as they drive on highways.

“Public service vehicles should not overload and be exemplary on the roads.

“Motorists should be more careful and avoid losing lives unnecessarily” said Ass Comm Nyathi.

Meanwhile the victims of a fatal accident which occurred on 28 December along Harare Bulawayo road at Redcliff-Kwekwe have been identified.

Simon Zimbangu Mukunze, 53, Pamela Zimbangu 17, Primrose and Zimbangu 10 all from Bulawayo died in the accident.
