Zimbabwean goalkeeper Martin Mapisa says being promoted is a dream come true.

The Warriors goalkeeper’s team will play in the Spanish third tier, the Segunda División B, next season after his club Zamora CF won the promotion on Saturday.

Zamora beat Gimnástica Segoviana 2-1 in the final of the Tercera División – Group 8 playoffs.

The team will also play in the 20/21 campaign of the Copa Del Rey.

“There’s no words that can explain how I feel about the achievement.

“This was one of my dreams and I’m so glad I have achieved it and I still have more I need to achieve. Either way I’m so happy,” he said.

Mapisa joined the club in January from Velez says the promotion means a lot to his career and motivates him.

“For me it means a lot. I only played one season in 3rd division of Spain and I have been promoted to another league.

“How great is that? It keeps on motivating me and gives me more energy and to believe that nothing is impossible, you never know, one day I might be in Laliga.

“So it helps boost my morale higher,” he said.

The 22-year-old has not managed to be the first choice goalkeeper yet but he believes it’s a matter of time. “For goalkeepers it’s normal, sometimes you second choice and sometimes you the first choice.

“I was the first choice at Velez CF then I went to Zamora and second choice because I was new in the team, but I remember made my first debut after two weeks with the team so it means I was doing a great job.

“I played more than four games before Covid-19 came, so I was doing good job I think,” he said.

He added:

“My only target is to win. Nothing is more important than that and to help my team as much as l can to achieve its targets.”

Mapisa lost his mom recently has also dedicated the promotion to her.

“I know she’s listening from above.

“There’s nothing that I value more than your love.

“No matter where I am or what I’m doing, her memories will always keep me smiling.

“Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved still missed and held so dear. “This is for you mama, l love you so much and may your soul continue Rest In Peace.”

He added: “I give credit to everyone who have been supporting all the way, where l came from, my country people, my family, my friends, my Academy (Aces Youth Soccer Academy) my teammates, everyone who was always on my side … especially my Mum … although she’s resting in heavens , she’s always my top inspiration.”
