CAPS United yesterday expressed their gratitudes to the Mahwindo Foundation following the donation of food stuffs to the players and the technical staff.
The foundation, run by socialite Wanisayi Mutandwa popularly known as Mahwindo, handed over groceries for 30 players and the coaches at CAPS offices.
The food stuffs included mealie meal, sugar, cooking oil and beans.
And speaking after the donation, Makepekepe team manager Shakespeare Chinongwenya said the donation will go a long way in helping the players especially during this lockdown period.
“We are under lockdown and obviously this will help us and we appreciate the gesture by our sister and her team at Mahwindo foundation.
“As a measure to adhere to the lockdown regulations, we have only invited a few players to receive the donation and some will have theirs dispatched to their homes. Thank you to those who remembered us, I am happy they said this is just the beginning and are targeting a number of teams,” said Chinongwenya.
Mahwindo said they are targeting a number of sporting institutions around the country.
“We just thought during this period, the owners of the team are not getting enough income to sustain the players.
“We decided to chip in as a foundation and give a donation which we also believe will help in a way.
“There are number of initiatives that we have put in place, we will help anyone who is cooperative. Some of the people who contributed to this donation supports Dynamos but it’s for Zimbabweans not selected people.
“So it’s not like we are stopping here,” said Mahwindo.
Mahwindo also hailed people who are contributing to the foundation saying she intends to give relief packages to sport and arts sector.
“There are people who are playing a big role, Brighton Ushendibaba, George Manyaya and Boss Danya.
“We really appreciate your support and people should know that you are doing great job for this foundation which is owned by my daughter Makanaka,” she said.
