ZDF Queens goal shooter Sharon Bwanali believes her team has what it takes to be this year’s champions following an impressive 2019 season that saw them finishing third on the log.
The team has since started preparing for the 2020 Rainbow Amateur Netball League season which starts on February 29 and have acquired the services of former Falcon Queens and Glow players Shallom Ncube and Chido Chiwenga.

ZDF are playing new comers Green Fuel in their opening match and their biggest test will be on March 7 when they face Platinum Queens.
“We are promising you fireworks this year. Our team is a bit balanced this year. There is a lot of competition at the club everyone is working hard at training to make it in the final 12 and we all want the best this year.”
She added:
“We are going to take a cautious approach in all matches. We are not going to underrate any team. I think that was the biggest mistake that costs us last year.”
The Gems’ player together with goal-defence, Rudo Karume joined ZDF during the 2019 mid-season transfer window and they were supposed to play only the second half games.
“I’m also excited that this year we are going to be playing the whole season unlike last year. We were later made to not participate in other games since we had joined mid-season.”
Bwanali is however, confident if she keeps the momentum she had last year, she will be named the best player of the season.
“This year is more work less play. People are going to see the best of me because I’m really going to work really hard. I know if I put more effort from last year’s I will be the best player of the season. I’m not doubting myself and I’m capabilities.”
Bwanali had an impressive year last year from national team to club performance. She was part of the squad that represented the country at Vitality Netball World Cup that was held in Liverpool, England.
