THE former World Boxing Council silver welterweight champion, Charles Mayuchi, is scheduled to fight Muhamad Sebyala of Uganda at City Sports Centre, in his bid to retain the WBF belt, on April 3.

The 30-year old will also be fighting for a claim of the inaugural World Africa Boxing Association supreme middleweight title. He will be fighting under his stable -the Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy.

The fight against the Ugandan would be Manyuchi’s first this year, and he will be returning to action since he beat Argentine fighter Diego Diaz Gallardo via a third-round technical knockout at the Harare International Conference Centre in September last year to land the World Boxing Federation (WBF) world middleweight title.

“I have already started preparing for the WBF title defence.

“We had settled for City Sports as the venue for the fight but there could be changes in the coming few days and we will let you know of the developments. Efforts are underway to bring the fight to HICC,” Manyuchi said.

“I’m not expecting an easy fight this time around so I need to prepare well. And next week, I will be leaving for Zambia where I will undergo rigorous preparations to ensure I will be ready for the bout.

“I have been out of the ring for some time now and I need to shed weight among other things. I hope to use my time in Zambia to put myself back in shape,” he said.
