Bonaqua Triathlon 2020 set

ORGANISERS expect growth in this year’s edition of the Bonaqua Troutbeck African Triathlon Union Sprint Triathlon African Cup set for Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga.

This year’s event will see Laurelle Brown carrying the country’s hopes in the elite women category also making her maiden elite appearance.

Brown has, however, been involved in triathlon in the junior categories since 2006.

She said she is delighted to be carrying the country’s hopes at an event that will contribute points to the Tokyo Olympics.

The event also falls within the Olympic Tokyo 2020 qualification becoming a platform for triathletes to earn valuable points to improve rankings.

The athlete narrated her history with triathlon since 2006 saying she is delighted to be competing at the highest level which will give her exposure going forward.

“It’s amazing to be part of the event and obviously with the support of our sponsors, other stakeholders SRC and ZOC I promise to do well,” she said.

In terms of preparations, Triathlon Zimbabwe president and event coordinator Rick Fulton said they are pleased with progress.

Some of the events categories range from run, swim and bike.

Meanwhile, official event sponsors Coca-Cola through their Bonaqua Water brand are delighted to be partnering Triathlon Zimbabwe in delivering the African Triathlon Cup another edition.

Some of the sponsors include Born Marche, Cimas and Ronneys.

Coca-Cola Zimbabwe franchise manager Milidzani Ncube commended the organizing team that is making the event a success over the years.

“We gather here today with our partners; this is a very important day as we count down to what promises to be another successful Bonaqua ATU Cup in Nyanga and as the Coca Cola company, as we thrive to refresh the world with the African spirit, we are pleased with the association and partnership we have with Triathlon Zimbabwe and support we give to sport.

“I would to start by commending team behind the scenes for all they do to make this event a world class success every year, the growing number of international entrance who consider travelling across borders and this is a testimony of the hard work that the organizing committee is doing. This year’s event is set for the 22nd of February at Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga,” he said.
