“Herentals FC were fined $300 000. In addition, in line with Article 18 (2) of the Fifa Disciplinary Code 2019, the result of the Herentals FC vs Black Rhinos FC match played on October 19 2019 be and is hereby forfeited,” read the statement released by the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

“The fine of $300 00, together with the full costs of the hearing shall be paid by the club by 31 January 2020,” read the PSL disciplinary committee judgement.

Chirenga was charged of contravening Order 31.2.2, which reads: “For any corrupt, dishonest or unlawful purpose in connection with a game played under the auspices of the league, or in connection with the affairs of the League, gives, offers or promises, whether directly or indirectly, any inducement, reward or bribe whatsoever nature, to anybody whomsoever”

The Herentals official was fined $20 000 and banned from any football related activities for a period of 10 years commencing from January 1 2020.

Gift Kamuriwo, the Black Rhinos manager who is said to have been implicated in the matter and is alleged to have received a US$600 dollar bribe, was fined $10 000 and banned from any football related activities for three years.

The verdict by the PSL Disciplinary committee could see Herentals being relegated from the top flight league.

Herentals finished the season on 41 points, and two points above the relegation zone.

The deduction of the three points from the forfeited match, will see Chapungu bouncing back into the top flight league, and Herentals relegated.

Midlands-based Chapungu finished the season with 40 points.
