WARNING: This article contains significant spoilers from the series finale of Starz’s crime drama Power Book IV: Force.
The saga of the “Power” series wraps up another installment, leaving behind chaos and hinting at what’s next. Look out for our upcoming conversation with Gary Lennon, the showrunner, and Joseph Sikora tomorrow.
The conclusion was bound to be intense, highlighted by the brutal killing of Tommy’s (played by Sikora) brother J.P. (Anthony Fleming III). The funeral provides a moment for their mother, Kate (Patricia Kalember), to atone for her past wrongs. Now in recovery, her attempt to be a better person is evident in her heartfelt speech. It’s clear that her journey towards recovery is helping her own up to her mistakes sincerely rather than just going through the motions. Her emotional speech moves J.P.’s father, Herman (Cedric Young), to tears.
Kate, addressing the congregation, regrets her prior selfishness, “Herman, he was a good man. You did a good job, in spite of me, and I will never forgive myself for it,” she confesses about her family abandonment. As she questions her past actions, Mireya (Carmela Zumbado) watches, profoundly affected by her words.

Outside the funeral, Jenard (Kris D. Lofton) plots to ambush Tommy, waiting in his car with his henchmen. The police presence at the funeral irritates Jenard as Tommy manages to elude him once more. Tommy quickly spots Jenard, who then speeds away, frustrated.
Jenard’s survival until the last episode, despite his questionable decisions alongside Vic (Shane Harper), is astonishing. Both seem to have lucked through to the finale despite their often bumbling criminal acts.
The image of Jenard that I chose for this article mirrors the expression on my face as I watched these scenes unfold.
In another part of town, Kate informs Tommy that she is returning to New York to continue her recovery journey. Despite Tommy’s attempts to convince her to stay, she leaves, with Mireya supporting her decision.
Subsequently, the new U.S. Attorney, William Tseng (Alain Uy), gains a bit of Tommy’s trust by eliminating a mutual threat. This move helps Tseng close a murder case by pinning it on the victims’ shady activities. Tseng hopes to secure a business deal with Tommy, leveraging his connections, but learns that his main contact is now dead, leaving him under Tommy’s influence.

Tommy’s nephew D-Mac (Lucien Cambric) struggles with deep regret and grief over his inability to save his father. Resolved to stick with Tommy, he pushes his girlfriend Jade (Marquita Brooks) to pursue her dreams at Spellman College, insisting she deserves a better life without him.
Meanwhile, Tommy leaves a cryptic message likely for Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.), hinting at a reunion. When Tariq appears, he dramatically saves Tommy during a crucial fight.
Before the series wraps, Tommy finds a note from Mireya expressing her decision to leave for her family’s safety, allowing Tommy to focus on his business. Her exact location remains unclear, but it’s possible she might be with Kate in New York.
Tommy and Miguel (Manuel Eduardo Ramirez), now closely allied, reflect on their transformed relationship which has evolved from animosity to brotherhood.

In a twist, Vic reverts to his old ways and seeks an alliance with Jenard to challenge Tommy, despite their previous failures. They prepare to gather forces against Tommy and his new allies.
The series finale sees Tommy and Tariq sharing a poignant moment on a rooftop. “Here he goes, King of Chicago,” Tariq teases, before hinting at a return to New York. They discuss legacies and future plans, with Tariq encouraging Tommy to expand his empire.
The potential sequel titled Power: Legacy is currently in development at Starz, following the events of Power Book IV: Force, although it has yet to be officially greenlit.
As the series concludes, Tariq prompts Tommy, “Ready to start some new shit?” to which Tommy responds with a confident laugh, signaling he’s more than ready.
