A Harare man is facing armed robbery charges after he reportedly broke into a home and stole five kilogrammes of beef and 20kg of mealie meal.

The suspect, Godwill Chapinduka, 28, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Judith Taruvinga.

He was referred to the High Court for bail consideration.

The court heard that on September 24, Chapinduka and his five alleged accomplices who are still at large connived to rob the complainant Cornelius Ndanga.

In pursuant of their plan, they went to Ndanga’s residence whilst armed with unidentified pistols and when they got there, they gained entry through the dining room door that was unlocked.

When they got in, they reportedly pointed a pistol at Ndanga and demanded cash, while the others ransacked the house looking for money and other valuables.

Chapinduka reportedly stole meat, mealie-meal, a television set, seven cell phones, two queen sized blankets, and two wrist watches.

They reportedly loaded the loot into Ndanga’s car and vacated the scene and later dumped the car in Tynwald.
