A 29-year-old Harare man has appeared in court accused of robbing a pedestrian who was making his way home.

Carlington Marasha was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate Victoria Mashamba charged with robbery.

He was ordered to approach the High Court for bail application and will be back in court on January 14.

The State is alleging that on September 25 Marasha and his accomplices who are still at large approached the complainant who was making his way home and robbed him an Iphone 5 cell phone.

They also forced the complainant to accompany them to his place of residence whilst armed with iron bars and a pistol.

When Marasha and his accomplices got to the complainant’s house, they smashed the door using unknown objects to gain entry.

As they got into the complainant’s house, they man handled him and tied his hands from behind as they ransacked the house stealing USD 150, 80 RTGS, 20 litre fuel jerry-can, solar lights and a J7 Samsung cell phone before they ran away.

On December 18, detectives were notified that Marasha was in Zambe Street in Mbare and they visited the place.

Marasha was found in Mbare and the detectives requested to go and search at his place of residence.

Upon searching the house, the detectives found the complainant’s Iphone 5 cell phone hidden in a wardrobe.

The value of stolen property is $10 000 and only a cell phone was recovered.
